RESTORATION/PATINA RESTORATION
The beauty of a classic motorcycle often lies in the traces left by its life on the road. The patina, as we like to call it, of a motorcycle should be preserved if possible. Every motorcycle is an individual with a story to tell. Let it tell it without the face job! A full nut-and-bolt restoration is in our view a last resource, only to be applied when the condition of the bike too far gone. We see too many overdone restorations anyway.
However, to keep the machine in optimum condition, some mechanical work sometime needs done. We can perform a restoration focused on the authenticity of the motorcycle, focusing on the mechanical bits.
To perform a good restoration is like walking a tightrope. With every single little detail we have to ask ourselves how to preserve it. It’s easy to fit new parts or to refurbish it completely. The challenge of the job is to really restore it leaving the patina intact. What we end up with is a classic Ducati in technically sound condition, not ‘improved’ but the way it was meant to be. A true classic, able to continue the story instead of starting a whole new one
We have gathered extensive knowledge of the ways a Ducati should be build. We use original nuts and bolts, we have a huge stock of New Old Stock parts available and we know how a classic Ducati should be painted using the correct colours and decals.
If you have a classic Ducati in need of a restoration or if we find the bike of your dreams but in a bad state, we’d like it very much to bring it back to top condition. We start by evaluating every single part of the bike. Can we re-use? Can we refurbish? Can we replace? This process is off course extensively discussed with you.
Next is the actual rebuilding of you bike. We have the skills and tools available to restore the bike of your dreams. You will be kept posted on a regular basis and receive a photo book of the complete process once it’s finished.
