HOME/Restoration #7 – Ducati 900 Replica - Finished

2 August 2011 by Harné Heuvelman

Our work here is done… the nut-and-bolt restoration of a 1980 Ducati 900 ‘Mike Hailwood’ Replica is finished. We started last winter with the engine rebuild using high compression pistons and larger valves to slightly improve performance. Assembly of the bike started last April with repainted frame bodywork and wheels. All parts have gone through our hands since then: refurbishing the Brembo Gold Line brake system, the 40mm Dell’Orto carburettors and fitting new Conti exhaust mufflers.

We are very pleased with the end result! After a number of test runs (yes, we have a terrible job!) we conclude that this bike runs beautifully. Truly one of the best Mike Hailwood Replica’s available. Let’s hope it finds a loving new owner!
